Specimen trees, boulder placements, decorative rock beds and pool-side landscaping that gives a yard instant structure.
Mature trees and well-placed boulders do more for a yard in a day than years of waiting for plants to fill in. We source, deliver and set specimen trees and natural stone with a skid steer, then tie everything together with proper plantings.
We pull trees and boulders from local yards so you see exactly what’s being installed before it lands.
Skid steer and crane truck where needed — no broken trees or rolled rocks from being muscled by hand.
Root balls set at proper depth, soil amended, mulched, and surrounding beds replanted to make new work look established.
Waiting 15 years for a 3-gallon nursery tree to reach scale is rarely the right answer when you’re reshaping a yard. We source specimen-size trees — 2.5"–4" caliper shade trees, 8–14 ft tall evergreens, large multi-stem ornamentals — from regional nurseries we’ve worked with for years, and place them with a skid steer or crane truck the same day they arrive.
Common installs on the South Shore: October Glory and Autumn Blaze maples for fall color, river birch clumps for movement, Green Giant arborvitae for fast-growing privacy screens, Kousa and Yoshino cherries for ornamental focal points, and mature emerald or dark green arborvitae walls along property lines.
A few well-placed boulders give a yard structure and weight that no amount of plantings can match. We source local granite and bluestone boulders ranging from 200 lb accent pieces to 2,000+ lb feature stones, and set them with equipment — never rolled or muscled, which damages both the stone and anything in the path.
Boulder outcroppings work especially well at the base of a slope, framing a water feature, or as anchor points in a planted bed. Half-bury each stone (one-third underground is the rule of thumb) so it reads as natural geology, not decoration dropped on the lawn.
Around pools we use a combination of low-maintenance evergreens for year-round structure, ornamental grasses for movement, and decorative stone or river rock in place of mulch (mulch around pools migrates into the water on every breeze). Plant selection avoids anything with aggressive root systems near the pool shell or messy fruit/flowers that end up in the skimmer.
River rock and decorative stone beds elsewhere on the property are installed over commercial-grade landscape fabric, with steel or aluminum edging to keep stone from migrating into adjacent lawn or beds.
