Oceanside landscape design, hardscaping and full-property maintenance, from School #2 down to the canals.
We landscape and hardscape across Oceanside — pavers, retaining walls and full front-yard makeovers on the colonials around Long Beach Road, plus weekly lawn maintenance and irrigation-friendly plantings on the bay-side streets. Sandy soil here drains fast, so plant selection and soil amendment make the difference between a yard that thrives and one that struggles.
Oceanside soil is sand-dominant across most of the hamlet. Water and nutrients move straight through it, which is why a lawn here can look burnt after ten dry days while a lawn a few miles north is fine. The fix is not more water — it is soil. We topdress with compost, aerate to break the thatch layer, and overseed with deep-rooting fescue blends, then feed on a slow-release schedule so nitrogen is not flushed past the root zone after the first storm.
On the planting side, sand rewards the right species. Ornamental grasses, junipers, hollies, Russian sage, sedum, bayberry and nepeta all thrive here with almost no babysitting, and mixing them with a few higher-water specimens in an amended, irrigated bed gives you a yard that looks designed without becoming a chore.
The colonials and expanded ranches around Long Beach Road and the School #2 district have good bones and, usually, dated landscaping — sheared yews from 1985 and a four-foot-wide concrete walk cracked in three places. Our standard Oceanside redesign widens the walk to a comfortable five feet in pavers or bluestone, sets a Belgian block or soldier-course edge, rebuilds the beds at a proper depth, and adds layered plantings with low-voltage lighting so the house reads well after dark.
Where the front steps and stoop are failing we handle the masonry in the same project — brick and stone stoop rebuilds, bluestone treads, and new risers set true so the walkway, landing and door line all work together.
The canal streets on the south end need the same salt- and wind-tolerant approach we use in Baldwin Harbor, plus attention to how hardscape sheds water on a flat lot. We keep patios and walkways pitched, joints sealed, and base depth generous.
Many Oceanside clients keep us on for the whole property — weekly maintenance, seasonal color rotations, mulch refresh, hedge and shrub pruning, and a fall cleanup that leaves the beds ready for spring. One crew, one contact, one invoice.
