Replacing heaved stoops and walkways from the 40s and 50s
Older Baldwin concrete was typically poured without air-entrainment and often without rebar at all, which is why so many original stoops have settled unevenly or cracked straight through the slab rather than at a control joint. We pour a 4,000 PSI air-entrained mix on every replacement, set rebar on chairs rather than laying it on grade, and cut control joints before the concrete has a chance to crack on its own terms. Footings for new stoops go below Nassau County's 42-inch frost depth regardless of what depth the original was poured to.
